Here’s a quickie: remember the Uncharted movie? No? I wouldn’t expect you to, as the last real big news we heard about it was that it was planned to be a sort of family-adventure romp where Nathan Drake and his wife and kids go treasure hunting around the world. Lots of fans were annoyed at the direction, and then people stopped talking about it for approximately a million years.
Well, it’s back with the exciting news that Dan Trachtenberg, the director that was cued up to be in charge of this train wreck, has stepped down. So now the thing has no director, and what’s more, no director who seems willing to fill the vacancy.
Here’s the other interesting catch, though: the movie has also been passed along to a new production studio, PlayStation Productions, which is apparently a thing. The goal of this operation is to bring PlayStation IPs and licenses to the big and little screen, and the Uncharted movie is going to be their very first undertaking.
It’s also probably going to be terrible.
…Not, like, Sonic the Hedgehog movie terrible, but something on that level. Like Assassin’s Creed terrible.
You can admit it, you didn’t see that movie and you still hate it.
