Last time we heard from Nightdive studios, the folks developing the upcoming System Shock remake, they were having trouble prioritizing the project. Though according to a recent update, they're now doing better than expected.
Their current goal is the "adventure alpha," a September milestone. They hope to have the game ready for exploring, but without the presence of enemies. Though you'll still be able to "pick up items, listen to audio logs, read emails and complete the games objectives from start to finish."
Originally, the studio only intended to have the world blocked out by then (example above). But Jonathan has been able to apply the textures from System Shock onto the BSP maps, giving them an insightful look at the original game's design. With the addition of PBR rendering and lighting, of course.
They also reveal some new concept designs and animation for various in-game aspects like doors and dermal patches. You can see all this and more at their Kickstarter update post.
