CGI or not, it's still bad-ass.

The Surge is an upcoming science fiction RPG developed by Deck13, the same developers behind Lords of the Fallen. The Surge takes a similar approach to combat and game mechanics as Dark Souls and Nioh, but with a science fiction twist. While the combat, and general level design may share similarities with the Dark Souls franchise, it does well to set itself apart. Today, Deck13 released a new trailer, showcasing an amazing soundtrack that has fans buzzing, while also showing use some pretty badass fight scenes with a small robot, another exoskeleton warrior, and a bigger robot. An extremely big robot I might add.

The new trailer showcases what are most likely normal enemies in the game such as the robot and human, while also revealing what is most likely the scale of bosses in the game. Just like Dark Souls, the bosses are intimidating and very, very Large. I think we can expect some very challenging and unique boss fights in The Surge. The trailer also depicts the main character (Warren) picking up scrap from a defeated robot and using it as a weapon which is just one mechanic that makes the Surge unique. Unlike Dark Souls, the Surge has a main character, and what looks like to be a more straight-forward story line, centered around a megacorporation called CREO. While the trailer is CGI, it does provide us with some more insight into the game and definitely builds up some hype. The music is also an exciting reveal that more or less sets the mood for the Surge. The Surge will be releasing May 16th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
