Geoff Keighley, patron saint of the GDC, has announced over Twitter that he’s partnered up with Steam to put together another Spring Game Festival, which will spotlight new and upcoming games that would have otherwise been shown off at the now-canceled event.
Surprise! @thegamefestival returns tomorrow to @Steam with 40+ new games you can play at home, which were originally set for GDC. This is the Spring edition of @thegamefestival
That’s a lot of hashtags.
The first Game Festival on Steam was in December of last year, with the Game Awards, and was a significantly smaller affair. This one is looking to be much larger, hosting 40 games, and allowing people to enjoy a “first look” at many of these titles. So there will be trailers, demos, the works: just about everything you’d get to experience if you went to GDC yourself, sans the socializing and lectures.
Anyway, this one starts today at 10 AM PT and will run until March 23, so you’ll have a solid five-and-a-half days or so to take a look. Sure beats sitting on your hands all quarantine, eh?
