Could we see a Pokemon fighting game and PS4 exclusive Souls game at E3?

As E3 2014 is quickly approaching in just about a month now-- there are bound to be leaked screenshots, boxart, etc. This will be a new, somewhat regular column that takes all the hottest rumors and pairs them with the hotness of super model Marisa Miller. Welcome to the very first Rumor Miller.

Rumor- Pokken Fighters/Pokken Tournament

Last week there was a European trademark filed for the names Pokken Fighters and Pokken Tournament by The Pokemon Company International, Inc. This adds to a rumor that began back in August, when the same trademark was filed in North America and a video shown at the Pokemon Game Show ended with a teaser of what looked to be a Pokemon fighting game. Nintendo will be doing their Treehouse Live streams from E3 that will be providing first looks at brand new titles, this is surely going to be one of them.

Speculation: At the beginning of this year Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada said that he would be announcing several games this year that were not Tekken titles. Just recently we learned one of those games is the free to play PC arena fighter Rise of Incarnates (the alpha is on May 30th for those interested btw). The "ken" in Pokken could very well be linked to Tekken. Namco is already co-developing Super Smash Bros 4 (but not with Harada's involvement) which definitely leaves the door open to this rumor being true. Many believe that tease in the video would be another Pokemon Colosseum game... but the fighting type Pokemon used and the fact that ken in Japanese means fist (which you can see a fist symbol in the background) would suggest a fighting game.

If Harada is working on a Pokemon fighter, let's hope it doesn't slow down the development of Tekken x Street Fighter too much. There's also that odd job listing from Namco for a Super Smash Bros 6 a couple weeks back.

Rumor: Project Beast is a PS4 Exclusive Souls Game

Chances are that a lot of you reading this are currently playing through Dark Souls 2... and shame on you if you're not. There isn't much info out there on Project Beast yet, just some leaked screenshots and info. The game is being developed by From Software and Sony Japan and will be exclusive to the PS4. The combat and visual style all indicate that this is a Souls game... however the character they played was carrying a shotgun, something that has never been seen in a Souls game. No doubt this will be a big system exclusive reveal at E3.

Speculation: While this surely looks to be a Souls game, the name and shotgun add some doubt to that. Sony and From Software already had a very successful collaboration with the PS3 exclusive Demon's Souls... which was eventually followed by the non-exclusive Dark Souls games. Many people were disappointed when the finished version of Dark Souls 2 was missing a rather gorgeous lighting engine that was in preview builds of the game. It is very possible the engine was an asset from a next gen Souls game being developed alongside Dark Souls 2 (which wasn't developed by the original Dark Souls team btw). The game is definitely real, and expect to see it at E3... but we'll see if this really is a PS4 exclusive Souls title.

As the rumors fly around as easy as Marisa Miller's bikini tops... expect to see a lot more leaks and speculations as we lead up to E3.
