Despite Atari's best efforts, people actually do want smaller recreations of retro consoles. The NES Mini was an excellent example of this. This demand is also what brought the Retro Commodore 64 Mini to Europe a few months ago. Now the throwback console is coming to the States.

The Commodore 64 Mini will be coming to the United States and Canada on October 9. The Commodore was a major contender in the gaming scene back in the 1980s. It has such titles like California Games and Street Sports Baseball, after all. Now you can relive those childhood memories on modern televisions.

The C64 Mini isn't without criticism, however. Critics remarked on the stiff controller. Others didn't believe that the game selection has the same staying power as the NES Mini did. All the same, this would be a fantastic item for nostalgics and collectors alike.

No official price has been announced, but we're expecting something in the $80 range.
