As of writing this, the Rio Olympics are wrapping up. Athletes are packing their medals or shattered dreams into their suitcases before leaving the event behind forever. This is also true for Overwatch fans. They are either proudly displaying their new, awesome Tracer skin, or crying repeatedly into their pillows. But it's not too late!
I mean, come on. Just look at it.
It has become a race against the clock for players looking for a specific Olympic-themed skin or emote. Blizzard has said that the event will end on August 22, but the exact hour has not officially been revealed. This recent practice has come under fire by some of the more salty members of the community. No Olympic gear can be purchased with in-game currency, adding a much needed sense of rarity into the game. This has led to plenty of gamers calling foul on Blizzard. This makes sense considering the many 100% completionists out there who don't want to drop a couple of hundred dollars on loot boxes. But it also adds a new form of flavor to the game. But I have to side with Blizzard on this one. If nothing has any real rarity, than nothing has a chance at being really special. Regardless, here's hoping for a Roadhog Santa outfit for the holiday season. And moreso, here's hoping I get it in time!
