The Outer Worlds is Available On Xbox Game Pass Upon Release

You can pre-load it now, actually.

Sci-fi fans are excited about the upcoming release of Obsidian Entertainment's The Outer Worlds. This goes double for Xbox players since the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass.

Game Pass, a Netflix-style online game library offered for the Xbox One, allows players to sample the entirety of countless games. Instead of paying full price for the games, players pay a set fee of $10 a month. Those who are subscribed will be able to download and play The Outer Worlds when it releases on Friday, October 25. Additionally, you can pre-load the game ahead of time so that you don't have to wait on a download upon release.

It doesn't have to be limited to Xbox, either. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that Game Pass would be extending onto PC as well. Currently, the program is available to those with a Windows 10 operating system and the Xbox Beta app installed.

This is a surprising decision. The Outer Worlds is one of the most anticipated RPGs of 2019. It would have done very well on its own. By having it part of the Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft has created quite a bit of clout for the service. And its a great deal for consumers, too. If you took the $60 it would cost to buy the game and instead purchased 6 months of Game Pass, you'd have more than enough time to play not only Outer Worlds, but all of the other games in the library. The only catch is that you don't keep the games if you cancel the service.

Still, if you're unsure about the game, buying a single month of Game Pass is a lot more affordable than buying the whole game. Plus, you won't have to deal with the Epic Games Store.
