The Original POSTAL is Now Free on GOG, Forever

Try to stay calm, but POSTAL is now permanently free on GOG. So is the second game, if you're quick enough.

Popular game storefront GOG.com recently announced on Twitter that POSTAL 4: No Regerts is now free of DRM. To celebrate the event, they're making the original POSTAL free on their platform permanently. They're also making the more controversial sequel free until Wednesday, December 18, 2019.

POSTAL and its sequels are some of the older examples of games that caused a social controversy. It was both a game with excessive degrees of violence but said violence was directed toward innocent citizens, the American military, and even a school. The content material would lead to the game being banned in multiple countries.

The original POSTAL, listed with DLC on GOG as POSTAL: Classic and Uncut, is an isometric top-down shooter. The protagonist (if you can call them that) is convinced that the government has used a neurological gas on all of the citizens and decides to attack everyone they can on their way to the nearby military base.

POSTAL 4: No Regerts has taken the series deeper toward the edgy comedy of the games and away from the reckless killing. Instead, the player has to make a new life for themselves in the satirical sands of Arizona, getting low-end jobs and fighting homeless folks.

It's a historically interesting series in video games. It's nice to see it be distributed like this, even if the content is a little questionable.
