The Order: 1886 Delayed until 2015

The Evil Within also pushed back to October

It looks like if you are a PS4 owner looking to do some third person shooting in a supernatural Victorian era, this just isn't your year. The Order: 1886 was one of the first PS4 games to be shown, and stood out especially for being a new IP and not just another sequel to a series like Killzone, Infamous, or Uncharted.

Looking ahead to this holiday season, The Order: 1886 was one of the few PS4 exclusive titles- now leaving a void of only Driveclub (which was originally a PS4 launch title) and a remastered version of Last of Us. Of course we're only halfway through the year and things can change, especially with Sony's E3 press conference in less than two weeks. It is notable that it seems many companies are getting the "bad news" out of the way before E3. Ubisoft quietly delayed The Division to 2015, while simultaneously announcing Far Cry 4. Microsoft pretty much gave the death sentence to the Kinect, but softened the blow with a price cut and removing the pay wall on Xbox Live entertainment apps.

The truth is, it takes time to make a good game and The Order: 1886 probably was just not ready. Wolfenstein: The New Order was originally supposed to be out last year, but Bethesda smartly delayed the game and what we got exceeded expectations. Bethesda is also delaying their next high profile game- The Evil Within.  Originally slated to be coming out in early August, the game is now set for a late October release (just in time for Halloween). A two month delay probably won't drastically change the quality of the game, but expectations are still pretty high for a horror title from the creator of Resident Evil. If this just released focus test video is any indication... it's shaping up nicely-

I'd like to remain optimistic and think perhaps Sony will have some E3 surprises that will be coming this holiday like perhaps a PS4 build of The Last Guardian, or whatever Sony Santa Monica has been working on (besides the canceled Stig Asmussen game). Realistically Uncharted 4 won't be this year, but perhaps Project Beast will be. We'll know soon enough.
