It has been exactly 836 days since the last Nintendo World Championships, and today, we find out it will be a mere ten days until the next one. The official Nintendo YouTube channel posted an announcement trailer for the 2017 Nintendo World Championships with a date of October 7.

Like last time, there are 8 contestants that will perform a series of games in an effort to best their opponents until only one victor remains. Among this list is even the 2015 champion, John Numbers. In order to qualify, they raced as Bowser on the GBA Bowser Castle 1 track in Time Trials mode in Mario Kart 7 for the best time. They aren't the only ones who will compete this time - this year, there will be a 12 & under division. Eight up-and-coming gamers will compete against each other in their own challenges. They qualified based on their Time Trials results from Mario Kart 7, playing as Mario on the DS Luigi’s Mansion track. It isn't said if the games and goals will be the same between both division, but each kid will have an experienced professional gamer to coach them. In the video, Nintendo does reveal that the new Metroid: Samus Returns game will be one of the games on the roster.

If you happen to be in New York City on October 7, you can see the event live at Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom. If you live too far and have too many responsibilities to handle like jobs and a cat, you can watch the event live on YouTube and Twitch. The livestream starts at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT

You can watch the trailer for yourself...
