The Switch is selling incredibly fast. About one month ago the console had surpassed 1.5 million units sold. That was around March 14th. Now, about 6 weeks later, the console has almost doubled its total sales and is sitting around 2.74 million units sold. To take a deeper dive into those numbers, the largest consumers right now are the Americas with a combined 1.2 million consoles purchased. Right behind them is Europe which has purchased around 940,000 units and we're closed out by Japan purchasing 600,000 units.

The first thing that comes to mind is "how is a console with barely any games making these sales?" The answer is incredibly simple. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. If it wasn't for the incredibly fun, beautiful, and well-designed game that is Breath of the Wild, the console wouldn't even be close to a million sales yet. To show just how true this is, we also have the sales reports for Zelda.

Just the Nintendo Switch version alone has sold 2.76 million copies and if you've been paying attention you'll notice that's 20,000 more games sold than Switches. That means that 20,000 people bought the game without even owning a Nintendo Switch. As for the Wii U, 1.08 million copies have been sold, bringing the grand total up to 3.84 million copies of Breath of the Wild.

The Switch has gone above and beyond with the help of the Zelda series. Things should continue to look up for Nintendo as the release of Mario Kart 8 is just a few hours away. I'm glad that Nintendo is finally getting what it deserves and I think they did a very great job with the Switch's release.
