Nintendo’s certainly no stranger to licensing its properties, and it’s not about to stop now that it’s suddenly the rising star of the gaming world once more. And heck, now that everyone’s got an eye on the big N for their recent smash hit Breath of the Wild, why not start licensing that mess away?
Which is what brings us to a most peculiar offering: a Legend of Zelda-based Clue.
Clue, for the unaware, is a classic murder mystery board game where you have to use reasoning and deductive powers to figure out who the killer is, what weapon they used, and where the murder took place. By checking other player’s clues, using your own, and observing your fellow investigators, you slowly eliminate the possibilities until finally, you feel confident enough to make an accusation.
The Legend of Zelda version of Clue, while identical mechanically, has a different framework: now, everyone is playing a hero who is trying to figure out who the chosen hero is, what item they need to slay Ganon, and where he’s hiding his base. Not an unfair adaption, if I say so myself!
While it certainly looks neat, it’s currently sold out on Amazon, and if Nintendo is responsible for resupply then I wouldn’t hold my breath on getting a copy anytime soon. Still, if you happen to have a copy on-order, you can expect it to ship on June 30th.
