Time to relive the past... again! The Internet Archive, the group responsible for releasing the browser-based arcade games to the public, has released a new browser-based library of games to play. About 2,400 MS-DOS - Or Microsoft Disk Operating System - games will be accessible to those desperate to relive the days of older PC gaming. There are games that are easily recognizable by many: Oregon Trail, Master of Orion, Duke Nukem 3D and The Incredible Machine. There are also some games that have caught me by surprise, like The Lion King and Street Fighter II. It'd be difficult to not be impressed with the expansive library here. The best part? These games are completely free to play on your browser.

Unfortunately, these games are still in beta, so sometimes they will act very glitchy and freeze from time to time. But hey, anything to taste the past, right? I think Jason Scott, the software curator, is doing a fine job collecting these games and securing them in one location, alongside the Console Living Room and Internet Arcade.

The Internet Archive is known for more than just video games. The Internet Archive also offers collections of classic cartoons, Brick Films, video game videos, movies, news, and academic film. There is additionally a neat little feature called "The Wayback Machine," which is an archive (and timeline) of over 435 billion web pages throughout the years. If you want, you can view an older version of Gamefaqs using The Wayback Machine. All you need to do is type in www.gamefaqs.com in the prompt, and there you can view a snapshot of the site as early as December 23rd, 1996. Frankly, it looks quite different from the modern version we see now.

The Internet Archive is definitely becoming a playground of sorts, whether it be for browsing the websites of the past or playing classic MS-DOS games.
