The announcement was made via Twitter.
"Hi Guys! We confirm the signing of the agreement regarding remakes of the games "The House of the Dead" and "The House of the Dead 2". No platforms or release dates have been confirmed, and unfortunately we cant say anything more for now. Please keep fingers crossed for us."
This is a pleasant surprise to come from the publisher. The House of the Dead games are commonly considered one of the founding fathers of video game horror. The light gun arcade system made for an exciting and immersive experience. They're also credited for popularizing zombies in modern media.
Speculation Time
We were wondering how a light-gun style game would translate to modern consoles. The world doesn't run on the Wii's point and shoot system anymore. We also noticed that Forever Entertainment has a fair number of games under their publishing belt, notably a few that are VR games. Perhaps the remakes will be in VR? This would be a great way to capture the original feeling of the games in a modern way.
Either way, we'll know more in time.
