That was five years ago.
If people even bothered to remember that promise they might be asking where their Halo TV show is, or just assume that the entire endeavor has been canceled. But according to Showtime president David Nevins, speaking to TV Guide, the Halo TV show is actually still “in development”, but refused to elaborate beyond saying it’s very much still in development and he’s personally looked at the scripts.
Another executive, Gary Levine, president of programming at Showtime, said the same thing:
"[The Halo TV show] is absolutely still in development, still moving forward and I'm encouraged by what we've seen so far. It’s still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime."
The same reassurances were put out during 2015, after two years of silence, and now that we’re five years into a world without a Halo TV show, we’re getting yet another. That said, if we’re still at the “script” stage, as the president suggested, we’re still a long, long ways from ever seeing Master Chief and crew on the small screen.
That said, it might be more encouraging or exciting if we knew the talent behind it. As of now, well, the only promise is that it’ll have Sci-Fi and drama. For some that might be enough but… I’m less reassured.
