The Game Awards will Finally Honor Kojima In Person

After long last.

If you play video games, there’s a better-than-good chance you know who Hideo Kojima is: he’s the genius behind the Metal Gear Solid games, and a man who, until recently, had that very genius shackled by the ghouls over at Konami, who kept him on a tight leash and allowed their personal feud with him to stop him from meeting fans, speaking out, and most famously, even stopped him from receiving a well-deserved industry accolades for Metal Gear Solid V, an immensely popular and extremely well-made open-world title and, arguably, the last ‘real’ Metal Gear Solid title that will ever be made.

This miffed folks, and it wasn’t long after this outcry that Kojima was able to escape Konami and start his own development team, called Kojima Studios (he’s genius, not humble, as you probably guessed), which is currently working on… something called Death Stranding. Presumably involving death and babies.

Regardless. There has been undue justice upon him. And at this year’s The Game Awards, they’re making one thing perfectly clear: they intend to undo this injustice.

He finally gets his trophy! @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN to receive Industry Icon Award live at @thegameawards 2016 on Dec 1. One of the most important things I wanted to do this year was give @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN the stage moment he was robbed of last year

So for all you miffed Kojima fanboys and girls out there: you can now die in peace, as he will get his due reward. Which will be a powerful moment for sure: absolutely worth checking out on December 1st.

In other The Game Award news, they recently announced which games would be the finalists for Game of the Year, and it looks like a pretty solid list. Doom, Inside, Overwatch, Titanfall 2, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. And you just know there will be some very angry folks if Overwatch doesn’t win, so, if nothing else, it’ll be worth watching in case there're riots.

My vote goes to Doom, by the way.
