Not long ago, everyone’s favorite NYC subway on acid simulator Vermintide 2 released the modded realm, allowing people to cut through the endless hordes with any number of silly or game-breaking mods. The one downside was that this special modded realm was a very restricted place, and you could make absolutely no progress or unlock any loot by playing on it. If you reduce all enemies to 1 HP and give yourself invulnerability, that makes well-enough sense, but there are some genuinely excellent quality of life mods out there that could really help the vanilla game.
To that end, developer Fat Shark just announced a list of 11 “sanctioned mods” - mods they have manually reviewed and have determined don’t break the game or disrupt the intended balance of the game. That means that these ‘sanctioned mods’ can be played on the official server and you can still make progress, level up, and unlock better loot.
The list, which can be found here, ranges from the pretty tame to the pretty exciting. For example, one mod simply lets you drop waypoints to maximize communication, one makes it harder to panic-drop your loot, while another skips the intro automatically so you can get into action faster. Among the more impactful ones, there are UI improvements, visual upgrades, and even a full-on bestiary so you can get a better look at your foes and learn some interesting stats about them.
And don’t worry: these are only the first 11 of what the studio hopes will be a long list of sanctioned mods that players can use to fine-tune and improve their experience, and they admit that their definition of a “sanctioned mod” may evolve over time to include other types of mods. It’s doubtful they’ll sanction the invincibility ones, though. Sorry about that.
