The Dragon's Dogma Anime Finally Has a Release Date

In some desperately needed good news: Netflix's most unexpected but hype new anime based on the not-as-hit-as-it-should-have-been Dragon's Dogma finally has a release date, and its soon: September 17.

...And that's pretty much all we learned. On Twitter, where Netflix made the announcement, we got this extra blurb that barely fills in the gaps:

Only the Arisen can face the Dragon and defeat the apocalypse. Here's your first look at the anime series adaptation of Capcom's action fantasy classic Dragon's Dogma.

And on the shows page on the Netflix website, we have just barely a little more:

Ethan sets out to vanquish the Dragon that took his heart, but with every demon he battles, the more he loses his humanity.

Demons weren't a huge running theme in the original game, which focused more on traditional monsters you had to cleave through to reach the Dragon, before taking a huge last-second plot twist that firmly cemented the game in my mind as an underrated classic. I'm not sure how faithful this adaption will be beyond dragon steals heart, but as long as it includes minions who warn you about wolves every five seconds, itl'l be good enough for me.

So, fingers crossed.
