But for some companies, that’s not an acceptable situation. Some companies took one too many lessons from Mr. Karl Marx, and think that everyone needs to be equal at all times. And in this case, ‘some companies’ would be Ubisoft: the long-hated company has finally admitted in an video regarding its latest game, The Division, that they’ve made a conscious effort to keep PC ports of their game from outshining the console counterparts.
"One good thing about The Division is we've always considered the PC as a separate platform. We do have to keep it in check with the consoles; it would be kind of unfair to push it so far away from them. But it's been good having a dedicated PC build for this game."
So they’re putting some strict limitations on just how good the game can look, which, you know, sucks… but the PC version isn’t dead in the water. There are still other advanced features that the PC version will get such as more in-depth graphical options. Additionally, the console versions of the game can also adjust their graphics to a minor degree, so players can pick between better run times or cooler visuals.
Of course, this is going to be upsetting news to PC gamers, but if Ubisoft really cared about not pissing anyone off, well… they would have started doing that years ago. Regardless, it is what it is, and you’ll have till March 8th to stew in your misery before the game launches and you buy it anyway.
