The Division beta came to a close earlier today, and the stats are already in. Ubisoft announced that a more than a whopping 6.4 million gamers played the beta--which makes the beta the largest ever for a new title on current gaming consoles. Ubisoft also mentions that players spent an average of five hours playing in the open world environment.
What was popular (feels obviously popular, anyway) was the PvP Zone, as players spent around two hours in the area. About 50 percent of these players turned rogue... or backstabbed their own team.
Furthermore, over 63,309,800 contaminated items were successfully extracted out of the Dark Zone. This is actually interesting, but this appears to be Ubisoft's greatest comeback, especially since they trounced the beta of Star Wars: Battlefront. They should probably focus more on games like this, and probably continue to keep Assassin's Creed off the backburner for possibly another year past the "cooldown" time. The Division will be releasing on March 8 for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
Oh, and in case you're wondering about carrying progress over from the beta to the full game, you're out of luck, because you'll have to start fresh when the game releases, to probably promote fair and balanced competition. But if the game is truly fun, it shouldn't matter if you had to start fresh, right?
