As many avid Star Wars fans are aware, Disney now has rights to all things Star Wars and in having those rights, they proceeded to kill the video game development divisions that were in the process of producing new games. So one is left asking, why? Or better yet, what's next?
Well there is some recent good news in that the company announced a partnership with Electronic Arts today (is this good or bad?), which includes an "exclusive deal" for the company to develop and publish a new series of Star Wars games.
There's not many details other than them saying the games will be for "all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres." However, Disney will did retain the rights to create their own games in the social and mobile markets.
So if you put 2 and 2 together, it's pretty obvious that we'll be seeing a number of mobile and social Star Wars games coming out sooner rather than later since they don't take as much development time to complete. Aside from that, there's the Star Wars 1313 title that got stuck half way through development. We imagine Disney will want to finish that, at least we hope!
What are your thoughts? Do you think they'll come out with something great?
