The Darkening of Tristram has returned once again! Blizzard recently announced that the Diablo III event will be returning on January 1.

The Darkening of Tristram is a recreation of the first Diablo game. All maps and bosses have been made within the Diablo 3 engine, as well as the "RetroVision" filter, which changes the game view to imitate that of the original game. This was originally done at the beginning of this year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Diablo I.

Aside from being able to experience a homage to the first of the trilogy, players will also have the chance to unlock unique content exclusive to this event, ranging from pets to portraits.

The event will begin on January 1 at midnight PST and will go until January 30 at midnight PST. The event will be available on PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. You can read the official Blizzard post about it here.
