If you've beaten The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you've probably noticed a small completion percentage that makes itself known on your map. Is it a little bit lower than you would have guessed? Well, there's a reason behind that. It's recently come to the world's attention that the completion percentage is only based on a few different things, and they probably aren't what you would expect. The only things that will raise your completion percentage are discovering shrines, defeating bosses, finding Korok seeds, and discovering map locations.
Each time you complete one of these four goals, your percentage will skyrocket upward at approximately 0.08% (seriously). Side quests and main story quests do not play a role in getting your percentage up and there is no reward for reaching 100%. I really feel bad for completionists, considering there are about 900 Korok seeds and 120 shrines in the game to find which will bring you up to around 82%. The other 18% is map locations and bosses, so good luck with all of that.
I don't expect the progress percentage to get any tweaks either, so you'll probably be staring at about 20% on there for a long time. Honestly, if it doesn't give me anything then I'm not going to worry about it. Either that or I'll just find a guide and blindly follow it for hours on end until I inevitably turn off my console, break the disk in half, and quit out of frustration. Happy hunting!
