The Coalition Wants Brumak To Wreck the New World in Monster Hunter

Sounds good to me!

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from The Coalition, the studio behind the Gears of War series, one of the few Microsoft exclusive IPs that’s actually worth a damn. Gears of War 4 was released a full two years ago, and since then, we haven’t really heard much from them. Presumably, they’re still working on the next Gears of War game (Maybe it’ll be a battle royale!), but in the meantime, they've broken their silence to make an appeal… to Capcom and the Monster Hunter team.

Apparently, they really to take part in one of the game’s famous crossovers. Which is cool! But apparently, they want something a little different from the normal armor set…

Over on Twitter, studio head Rod Fergusson had this to say:

So who at @monsterhunter do we need to talk to about getting a Brumak in the game? :) With or without guns - although an armed monster would be pretty cool!

The Brumak, if you’re not brushed up on Gears of War lore, was a giant enemy monster from the first game that you encounter a few times but never actually fight before the game ends, which left a lot of players with whatever the violent equivalent of blue balls is. Getting a chance to actually shoot him down (or stab him down or crush him down, depending on your weapon) would be pretty fantastic and give the Xbox One players (and eventually the PC players) an exclusive that would be more than comparable to the Alloy armor that the PS4 players enjoy.

The Monster Hunter team is always down for a good crossover, but while they’re happy to throw in a special armor set, historically they’ve resisted adding monsters from other series into the game. Not sure why, but I know for many veterans certain monsters are “iconic” and it might be defiling something kinda sacred for some people.

Or it’s a legal thing. Who knows?

Fingers crossed!
