The Blizzard Catastrophie: Overwatch Launch Party for Switch Canceled

I wonder why.

Despite apologizing for being jerks, I regret to inform you that Activision-Blizzard are still jerks for what they’ve done to “Blitzchung”, and for all the crap they did and/or didn’t do in the interim. Blizzard has catapulted to the top of everybody’s crap-list, and Blizzard themselves seem keenly aware of just how disliked they are right now.

Because Nintendo (I know, not the name you were expecting) just announced that the Overwatch launch event has just been canceled by Blizzard for… unknown reasons.

“Please be aware that the previously announced Overwatch launch event scheduled for Wednesday, 10/16 at NintendoNYC has been cancelled by Blizzard. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Just a week ago, Nintendo’s NY Twitter was advertising the event and saying that it was an opportunity to meet the voice actors, pick up the game, and make some new friends. Now, just a day before it was supposed to happen – canceled.

…which is probably not only smart, but a good thing. I would hate it if innocent voice actors or Nintendo employees found themselves on the receiving end of the fan anger that should be directed at Blizzard as an institution.

Remember, kids: protest evil companies responsibly.
