The Binding of Isaac Denied Life on iPad

Sounds like it could use a rebirth.

The Binding of Isaac, otherwise known as the roguelike that brought the entire genre back from the dead, has been showing up everywhere as of late. The game has been released for just about every system and console in the world, been re-released twice now (re-re-released?), gotten countless updates, patches, DLC, and is generally the most popular thing in gaming that doesn’t start with ‘mine’ and ends with ‘craft’.

Just about the only device you can’t get the Binding of Isaac on, at this point, would be the iPad. Recently, we’ve been getting quite a few teasing images tweeted to us from Nicalis founder Tyrone Rodriguez, hinting that would change in the near future, but… as it turns out, it’s simply not to be. It appears the Binding of Isaac will not be making a debut on Apple’s app store.

Why?

“Your app contains content or features that depict violence towards, or abuse of, children, which is not allowed on the App.”

...Okay, that’s... hard to argue.

Well, it’s not impossible to argue. While there’s a healthy about of debate regarding how much of the game is "real," the crux of the story is still about a woman trying to sacrifice her child to God, which, you know, is mentally abusive to say the least. And I sincerely doubt Apple hasn’t heard of the Binding of Isaac… it’s not impossible they’re going to stick to their guns on this one. Still, I imagine Tyrone will fight this, so we don’t have to give up hope on the Binding of Isaac just yet.
