Binding of Isaac has made history in its years. The action rogue-like game by Edmund McMillen procedurally generated itself into many of our hearts with its easy yet engaging gameplay. Now the series is back in card game form. Or it will be, that is.
This week was the launch of a new Kickstarter project for The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls, a multiplayer card game. The project began on Wednesday with a goal of $50,000. At the time of writing this, they have already received nearly 5,000 backers, totaling over $330,000.
McMillen has had a long-nested desire for something physical and found now to be the time to follow through with the idea. He describes the game as one where two to four players must work cooperatively to level up, collect loot, and beat bosses. Different characters have different powers, which can affect everything from dice rolls to damage stats. Four Souls will feature hundreds of cards, ranging from items to enemies, all of which are based on the Binding of Isaac universe.
They plan to have The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls sent out to backers either by the end of this year or early into 2019.
