That New KOTOR Rumor Isn't Necessarily Accurate

Don't shoot the messenger.

Just yesterday, a fairly vague rumor caught traction and like many rumors on the internet spiraled out of control pretty quickly. It's amazing how a small, unconfirmed rumor can quickly gain popularity and completely over-saturate everyone's news feed. This rumor happened to be about Bioware potentially developing/re-making Knights Of The Old Republic, and naturally, it had Star Wars fans going crazy with anticipation. Sadly, the information has been deemed somewhat false (via Kotaku).

The rumor started, as most rumors do, from something that somebody heard. Liam Robertson, from the channel Unseen64, made a statement on a podcast that was later transcribed by a Star Wars Fan Site, and thus, sparked the beginning of this KOTOR rumor.

According to Kotaku, although Bioware has been playing around with re-making Knights Of The Old Republic, they have not prototyped it and it hasn't been greenlit yet and isn't even in development at this point in time. This is yet another case of old information that re-surfaced and somehow went viral. While it could be possible that we might get a new Knights Of The Old Republic game in the future if it even does happen, it most likely won't be for a very long time, and it's definitely nothing to get your hopes up for. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news people, but it has to be done. The truth hurts. Sadly, this vague rumor caught traction while it shouldn't have after being spread around by big media outlets such as Gamespot and PC Gamer while being picked up by dozens of other websites shortly after.

Kotaku reached out to Liam Roberston and got a follow-up statement:

Going to hold my hands up here - I think I just misheard some of the Austin stuff when I was talking on Skype, so I may have misspoke there. Theres also the element that I had no notes in front of me and just sort of rambled on from memory. I did not expect these few select statements to blow up (oops). Im used to having the opportunity to just release follow-up notices on the Patreon with any updates and corrections. My bad there.

Let me clarify that I dont think KOTORs a current project. From the same people I learned about Dylan from, I did hear that they prototyped a KOTOR revival at Austin a while back. I believe it may have evolved into something else since then or fizzled out since then. Im still confident Austin is doing something Star Wars related though and Im confident in that. I actually did know that they were contributing towards Dylan since I originally found out about it when I was researching Austins Shadow Realms, so if I said exclusively, then that was admittedly a mistake.

The truth can be hard to swallow sometimes. Hopefully, you can handle it, and if you can't, then feel free to take the blue pill and wake up.
