Fortnite: Battle Royale finally has its first licensed promotional event, and it's a big one too. The game has joined forces with Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War for a limited time game mode, called the Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup.

In this game mode, the Infinity Gauntlet has fallen down to earth, and those who wield it are given incredible power (and also a cool Thanos character model). Infinity Gauntlet mode is a solo-only mode though, so sorry squads. Here's how it works:

A meteor will fall down onto the map in a storm-free zone. In its landing spot, players will find the Infinity Gauntlet. Should they claim its immense power for themselves, they will transform into Thanos, gaining new powers and abilities. If Thanos is defeated, the gauntlet will drop to the ground, where another player can take it. If it goes unclaimed for too long, it will disappear and will fall back down via another meteor. This process continues until only one person remains.

Thanos himself will be granted a cool list of abilities to give them an edge over the weak humans before you. They are as follows:
  • A powerful punch that knocks players back and destroys structures.
  • That cool superhero crash landing that causes damage and knockback to everyone around them.
  • Power-stone laser blast that deals damage over time.
  • Superjump, enough said.
As expected, Thanos also has incredible levels of durability. Upon defeating another player, his shields will regenerate. Health, however, will never regenerate. He doesn't take fall damage. He also cannot build, use weapons, or items like launch pads.

He certainly sounds like an unstoppable force. This should prove to be a rather exciting game mode to try out, at least a few times. You better give it a go before it goes away.
