Yesterday in Texas, Gov. Rick Perry received an award of appreciation for all the jobs they've created for developers in the "Lone Star State."

The Entertainment Software Association, recognizes the state of Texas for giving $20 million to video games since 2008. They also are housing 183 studio's, and 5,000 jobs total. In '08 the Texas Film Commission began giving grants, and has reported a return of $244 million. Not a bad investment at all.

Gov. Rick Perry's appreciation for this sector of entertainment sounds about right:  “Video game production represents Texas’ trail-blazing spirit.” Studio’s like id Software, Bioware, Blizzard, and many others contribute. “Thousands of Texans are hard at work creating the next great diversion, either on a console, tablet, PC or their phones.”
