Okay, video game tournaments are no longer a minor event in the world, but instead becoming integral to the video game industry. Already, there are several major tournaments centered on DOTA, League of Legends, Quake, and even Rocket League, boasting huge cash prizes.
But even smaller successes are hosting their own tournaments with hefty prizes. Case in point: Grey Goo.
Grey Box, Six Foot, and developer Petroglyph have announced the Grey Goo Tournament Series, featuring the popular RTS Grey Goo. This tournament begins with three qualifying rounds which lead into the final showdown, held January 29-31, 2016 at PAX South. Qualifying participants of the tournament will fly and lodge for free to PAX South in San Antonio, TX for a chance at the $75,000 prize pool.
The first qualifying round will start on September 26. The second will be held in October and the third in November. The top four finalists in each qualifier, along with eight separate "wild cards" will be able to compete at the championship. If you're unable to catch the live event in person, you can always the entire tournament via livestream on Twitch.
