Earlier today, Andrew Spinks, the founder of Terrarias development studio Re-Logic, posted a thread on Twitter. In the thread, he expresses frustration toward Google, claiming that their account has been disabled for weeks, cutting off access to countless digital media stored and organized therein.
In response, Spinks announced that their cooperation with Googles game streaming branch Stadia is coming to an immediate end.
@Google my account has now been disabled for over 3 weeks. I still have no idea why, and after using every resource I have to get this resolved you have done nothing but given me the runaround.
My phone has lost access to thousands of dollars of apps on @GooglePlay. I had just bought LOTR 4K and can't finish it. My @googledrive data is completely gone. I can't access my @YouTube channel. The worst of all is losing access to my @gmail address of over 15 years.
I absolutely have not done anything to violate your terms of service, so I can take this no other way than you deciding to burn this bridge. Consider it burned. #Terraria for @GoogleStadia is canceled. My company will no longer support any of your platforms moving forward.
This entire situation is unfortunate. Its unfortunate that Spinks is experiencing so much unjust trouble with their account. Its unfortunate that it would remain unresolved for so long as to facilitate this response.
Google Stadia hasnt been in a good place right now, either. Google recently announced that the Stadia development branch will be coming to a close. Originally, the company planned on developing their own big name titles for the platform. But after a rough launch and even less enthusiastic follow up, they shifted focus and funds away from Stadia and onto other projects.
At the same time, Terraria not coming to Stadia isnt that much of a loss for consumers at this point. The game is available on virtually every platform out right now. That includes PC and mobile, which at least one is needed to use a Stadia anyway. If someone really wants to play the game, this isnt going to be what stops them.
