So, if you haven't heard of Temtem, then you'd be just like me a few hours ago. But apparently this bad boy is Humble Bundle's attempt to bring Pokemon into PC gaming by means of a thinly-veiled but distinct knock-off. But whereas Nintendo and Game Freak is content to circle the same pit of pointless gimmicks and fan outrage, Temtem seems to be an amalgamation of all the best ideas that the aforementioned two companies refuse to integrate. There's a functional online mode, since it's an MMORPG and co-op, so you can go on a journey with a friend. You can also travel with your Temtem walking beside you. The professor who gives you your first Temtem is hot. Your rival is actually a jerk again. You know, all that good stuff.
Well, on January 21, the game -- which is still in Alpha -- will be released on Steam, and to accompany it, we got a new trailer showing off some new stuff that will be added to the endgame (it is an MMORPG). This seemed like as good a reason to report on this curiosity as any, so, here's that trailer:
So, in summary: breeding is risk vs reward (moreso than Pokemon), new Temtem will be added every week, and shinies really are more powerful than normal types. Okay.
Now that the game is close to releasing in early access -- and now that Game Freak and Nintendo are kind of in hot water with how they've been treating Sword and Shield -- I'm sure Temtem will be giving us a lot more to talk about real soon.
