Today, details emerged about Telltale's new game of episodic storytelling, Batman. Continuing the legacy they've made with their Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones, and Borderlands titles, Telltale's Batman series will follow an episodic format centered around multiple choices and paths. And, of course, the game will treat players to a multitude of iconic locations and characters.
Next time, I'm calling the Fire Department to get my cat off the roof
So far, the game is confirmed to having Alfred Pennyworth, Harvey Dent, Carmine Falcone, Vicki Vale, Jim Gordon, and Selina Kyle. It is also rumored to have Bruce Wayne, but details are lacking about how much, if any, involvement he'll have in the plot. In the past, Telltale has had a knack of shoving as many characters as possible into their games, so the cast is probably far from complete.
Not to mention a highly improbable crossover with KITT from Knight Rider
The highlight of Telltale's episodic games (other than its cell-shading, comic style), is the emotional roller coaster each one includes. The games have certainly done one thing perfectly well, and that's force gamers to feel real emotions. From crippling depression and hopelessness in Walking Dead, to crippling depression and hopelessness in Game of Thrones, to crippling depression and lighthearted amusement in Borderlands. The structure is built on guilt. Player are completely responsible for choices directly leading to consequences, often permanent ones. Mostly, the circumstances are lose-lose. Someone is going to get hurt, and it's all your fault. Needless to say, this formula is absolutely perfect for Batman. Plus, there's always room for a blossoming romance.

As this is the eve of E3, surely more information is coming soon. Telltale's Batman is slated for a summer release, so details should be pouring in quite soon. Personally, as a fan of Telltale's episodic games, I am keeping my eyes locked on this title. It is planned to release for PC, Mac, consoles, mobile devices, and specially marked bags of beef jerky. Just as before, each episode will release when finished and will automatically download for anyone who has purchased the game. If you're looking for another excuse to save Gotham City, look for this when it launches this summer.
I suggest humming your favorite Batman theme until it comes out
