TellTale Lets Go of at least Some of their Skeleton Crew

When Telltale “shut its doors” a couple of weeks ago, it was announced they let go of most all of their employees, leaving something along the lines of 250 people out of work. The caveat, however, was that twenty-five people were still toiling away behind closed doors as a “skeleton crew” so the studio could follow through with earlier obligations and see the whole thing shut down. It was well understood by everyone involved that these twenty-five people weren’t going to be with the company for long in even the best situation, but I would have guessed they would have lasted at least until the end of the year, or whenever they finished that Netflix Minecraft thing.

Turns out, as one now-ex employee has tweeted, that is not the case at all.

“Heeeeyyyy remember how there was going to be a skeleton crew staying on for a while and I was part of it? Nah, jk, we all just got laid off, too.”

Which was then followed up by another tweet when people started going crazy:

“I think there was some misunderstanding about my earlier message... There are still good people at the company. MY team is done.”

So basically, either most or all of the skeleton crew is gone, and now nobody really knows what’s going on at the dying studio. The tweeter, narrative designer Rachel Noel, also stated that she, like everyone else, did not receive any severance pay, but hopefully, she could have guessed that was the case and used the time to prepare for it.

As for what will happen to Telltale now? Well, the CEO is still there and is likely spearheading those negotiations to get The Walking Dead finished by some other studio. But I very much doubt we’ll see the studio rise from the ashes. And frankly, the way they’ve behaved, I don’t want them too.

Stay dead, please.
