No good can come of this.

Edit: Updated to include Telltale's response.

Telltale Games made a pretty big mistake in their most recent episode release of Batman: The Telltale Series when they used the image of a recently assassinated Russian ambassador in one of their scenes.

In Episode 2: The Pact, Batman and Alfred can be seen researching the aftermath of a robbery, in which the likeness of Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov can be seen having been photoshopped out of the press images of the assassination, and onto the bank floor.

The similarity was noticed by Twitter user BroTeamPill posted in a tweet last night.

Andrei Karlov was assassinated at an art gallery in Ankara and the news went worldwide when high-quality images and video were circulated through the media.

Here you can see the two images side by side to compare for yourself.

While one can only assume that this is the result of a hasty Google search for "dead businessman," Telltale has now irreversibly tarnished its name. While this may not negatively impact sales, it will undoubtedly be an influence for future intellectual property usage. Telltale Games has not made a statement about this discovery nor of any plans it has to resolve this. There is simply no good way Telltale can spin this so that it won't result in heavy community backlash. There is sure to be more to come regarding this controversy, so be sure to stay tuned for any updates.

Since the original posting, Telltale games have since released a patch that removes the image of Andrei Karlov, and have issued the following statement

An update to the game has been submitted this morning that will be removing the image across all platforms. We regret this incident occurred, and we are taking appropriate action internally to ensure that we continue to maintain our high standards in Production and Quality Assurance.
