Well, now for the bad news. Apparently the development of Tekken X Street Fighter is on hold, according to Tekken game director Katsuhiro Harada during a GameSpot interview.
According to Harada:
"When we develop fighting games, we try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games. But currently the situation is with fighting games, you have Street Fighter V that just released--a lot of people are playing that fervently--and there's a large crowd out there waiting for Tekken 7."
"We don't want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recently. So it's on hold for the moment."
There were also several reasons as to why there were so few updates on the project since the announcement alongside Street Fighter X Tekken's announcement.
"One of the reasons is, Street Fighter X Tekken was released. That still had updates until recently. One interesting thing we've seen with that title when it came out was that it's not quite what we expected."
So in other words, Bandai Namco is just looking for a good moment to release Tekken X Street Fighter, considering the fact that Street Fighter V just released and Tekken 7 is over the horizon. Maybe, since Tekken 7 will hopefully release sometime this year, we will see a release next year, or maybe in 2018?
