Tamagotchi to Feature Eevee as a Companion

I hope this one isn't able to die.

Odds are if you've played Pokémon as a kid, you've dreamed of a world where you could raise one like a pet. But since they're not real, we were left to our imaginations. But then came Tamagotchi.

The digital pet company recently announced an upcoming crossover with the Nintendo RPG. Coming next year, the Pokémon Eevee will be getting its own Tamagotchi, letting players raise and evolve it through the familiar plastic keychain that ravaged the '90s.

According to the official website, the way and frequency that you care for your pixelated Pokémon will determine which one of the evolutions it will form into once it comes of age. The physical container will also come in one of two patterns, I love you, Eevee and Colorful friends.

The item itself will release in Japan only on January 26. It'll cost 2,300 yen, which equates to about $20.

The last time we saw this was with the PokéWalker, a pedometer accessory that let players increase the level of their Pokémon in SoulSilver and HeartGold by walking them. It didn't offer the same level of interaction as this will, but it was the best we had at the time.
