eSports is becoming bigger and bigger with every passing day, and every corner of society is starting to realize how serious it is, especially when it comes to money. The latest part of society to jump on the eSports bandwagon is schools; universities and colleges to be specific.

Certain universities have been offering eSports scholarships for games like League of Legends for quite some time now, but recently, the University of California Irvine (UCI) added Overwatch to the scholarship program. Overwatch is arguably the biggest game in the world right now and it also has a significant professional scene, so this should come as no surprise.

UCI is offering $2500 a year towards tuition fees for talented Overwatch players. These players are expected to spend anywhere from 15-20 hours a week honing their skills and preparing for tournaments.

Universities are starting to treat eSports like a regular competitive sport, and we're glad to see Overwatch being included into the game roster of the scholarships.
