Switch User Gets a Repair and Somebody Else's Data Files

Very weird story.

In a very strange report a Nintendo Switch user sent his console in for repairs and ended up getting it back with somebody else's information saved on it. The user had a scratched screen and sent it in to get fixed up. He had save files on the machine and said that if they could not repair the console then they should just send it back to him because he did not want to lose his save files. He ended up getting it back and was able to verify that the screen was fixed and the serial number on the bottom of the console matched the one he recorded before sending it in.

He then turned on his console and realized that he was in possession of somebody else's data. The serial number under the system settings did not match the one on the outside of his console and his data was completely gone. He was then able to track down the owner of the save files using the linked accounts to the Switch. He got the full name of the owner and contacted them via Facebook.

Since the incident occurred, everything has been cleared up and the man looking for repairs no longer has access to the other users saved files. However, he also does not have his own save files back and they are currently looking into how to get it over to him. This was a really weird story and something I had never heard of, especially since the outside serial number matched. I have no idea how another person's save files could have gotten on this guy's Switch, but hopefully he can get all of his data back and not have to start all over.
