Its been many years, but Atomic Heart is nearly reached critical mass. A new trailer for the Russian dystopian action adventure game shows up more of the world, the combat, the characters. And most importantly, it gives us a release window.
The trailer, seen below, focuses on the games protagonist, a man with a strange augmentation that allows him to perform fantastical features to the wide variety of mechanical monsters he encounters. It very much gives a Bioshock feel in the way the player works with a gun in the right hand and a superpower in the left. At the end of the trailer, they reveal that the game will release in 2022, in the month of #######BER.
Given the way months are named, this implies a release window of somewhere in the end of the year, between September and December.
In Atomic Heart, a systems failure happens in a Soviet Russian facility, leading to an army of strange machines to rebel against their human creators. You play as Major P-3, whos been tasked with going in and suppressing/destroying these machines and securing and sensitive date within the building.
The game caught countless peoples eyes back in 2017, when it teased some of its strange art style. It blended the fantastical and insane styling youd see in a fever dream, with the cold, clunky nature of the mechanical. The end result is something surreal, touching on the worst parts of the uncanny valley. And yes, that music DID sound familiar, the soundtrack is being done by Mick Gordon, the same guy that did the recent DOOM games.
The voice acting in that trailer, however well, nothing is perfect, we suppose.
Atomic Heart will release some time later this year on the Xbox One/Series, PS4/5, and on PC. It will also be releasing on Xbox Game Pass.
