Just in time for E3, a recent rumor has finally been confirmed. Earlier this year, we've reported that Roy and Ryu is a possibility to join the roster of the latest Super Smash Bros.

Turns out the rumor is 100% true, announced earlier in an online video. Nintendo has lifted the curtains on a major DLC update for Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and 3DS, which includes Street Fighter's Ryu, Fire Emblem's Roy, and Mother 3's Lucas. Also included are three new stages and new costumes from franchises like Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, and Mega Man. These will be available in multiple price options and bundles, so players can mix and match characters, stages, and costumes.

This is a sign that Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS will probably be around for a long while, given the release of major updates and the community additions such as the upcoming YouTube replays, new Tourney modes, and bonus trophies.

To quote Nintendo US' VP of marketing and sales Scott Moffitt on the update:

"Today's update proves that the evergreen Super Smash Bros. games continue to evolve and grow with unexpected new content."

In terms of pricing, each character costs $3.99 per platform, or $4.99 for both the Wii U and 3DS platforms. Ryu is and exception, who is priced at $5.99 for one platform or $6.99 for both, but he does come with the Suzaku Castle stage. The Dreamland stage is price at $1.99 for the platform of your choice, or $2.99 for both. The new costumes will cost $0.75 for each platform or $1.15 for the platform bundle.

If you want the entire Wii U or 3DS bundle of the DLC, be prepared to shell out $21.96, but purchasing the DLC for both platforms will cost you $29.16. At least you save a couple bucks there.

Overall, a little pricey, but more-than-likely worth it for fans of the series.

Another bit of news involves Nintendo's amiibo: Besides the official announcement of all Smash characters, including Roy and Ryu, will be transferred to amiibo format, it seems that the gaming giant accidentally revealed more amiibo via the official Nintendo of Europe Twitter account. According to an image leaked, four animal crossing characters, Maybel, Tom, Nook, and Isabelle, and an 8-bit Mario amiibo will be added onto the roster.
