Nintendo's hit "build your own platformer" game Super Mario Maker 2 is getting one final update soon. Players will soon have access to a collection of new items, features, and power-ups. Best of all, they can organize all of their best work in the new World Maker.

The biggest aspect of this update is the World Maker mode. In this mode, players can put together their own overworld map, connecting various levels they previously produced into a single world. These worlds can then be shared with other players.

Another new addition are the Koopalings. These colorful minions of Bowser made a name for themselves in a variety of Mario games and now they're enemies in the level editing roster. Each Koopaling has a variation to their combat style, allowing for plenty of diversity in mini-bosses.

Not everything is against the player, though. The update will also introduce a number of new power-ups Mario can use to help traverse levels and fight enemies. One noteworthy example is the SMB2 Mushroom. Similar to the Link shroom, this item transforms Mario into his likeness from Super Mario Bros 2. When in this form, he can use all of the same powers as the original SMB2 had. This includes standing on enemies, picking them up, throwing them.

Other iconic power-ups added to this update include the Frog Suit from Mario 3, the Super Acorn from Super Mario Bros U, and the Boomerang Flower from Super Mario 3D World.

The final update will be published on April 22. It will be free to all owners of Super Mario Maker 2 for the Nintendo Switch.
