The hit player-driven platformer is back again with Super Mario Maker 2!
Kicking off the most recent Nintendo Direct was an announcement trailer for the followup to the Mario level builder, Mario Maker. With new items, new enemies, a smoother menu, and more. And best of all, it's coming to Nintendo Switch this June.
In Super Mario Maker, players use an integrated design layout to drag-and-drop their own Mario levels. They can add items and enemies from generations of Mario games, including Bowser Jr, Chain Chomps, Bullet Bills, and more. Players can then upload those levels online for other people around the world to play and like.
The game originally debuted on the Nintendo Wii U in 2015. A 3DS port of the game released in 2016, though to less excitement.
If you're interested in seeing more of what the original Super Mario Maker offered. I recommend checking out the Game Grumps playthrough of the game. The game is the letplayer's longest running series and features all of the levels by RubberRoss, an animator known for being one of the most popular (and difficult) Mario Maker level creators.
