Summer Games Done Quick is live! This week-long live stream brings the best of speed running and uses it for the forces of good.
SGDQ 2018 is a seven-day event taking place in Minneapolis, MN. Various video game speed runners, commentators, and other community members will gather around to play and watch speedruns of countless games. It's also a charity event, where all donations made will go toward Doctors Without Borders. This will be the eighth year the event has taken place. Last year, the event raised $1.7 million for charity.
SGDQ and the other GDQ events are great examples of the wonderful side of the gaming community. Hundreds of people physically gather to support a good cause, while hundreds of thousands support the endeavor online. It's a non-stop flood of genuinely nice gamers doing what they love: playing video games! It can be something as enthralling as a playthrough of your favorite game making record-breaking times, to something as wholesome as just some casual play of a visually appealing or nostalgic title.
You can watch the live stream itself at the GDQ Twitch page. More information, including how to donate, can be found on their website.
