And that’s honestly one of his more tame games, especially when you compare it to some of his earlier work, such as No More Heroes, Killer Is Dead, and Lollipop Chainsaw. But nothing he’s ever made has matched the outright insanity of perhaps his most famous work, Killer7, a rail shooter where you play… actually, I’m not even going to try to summarize it. And I think if you’ve ever picked it up, you’d know why.
But anyway, I bring this up because Suda51’s studio, Grasshopper Manufacturer, is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and as part of the festivities, Suda51 was answering questions from fans. When one decided to ask if they were ever going to work on a remaster of Killer7, the enigmatic creator said, “Yes, in the near future”.
But don’t get too excited fellas: there are some pretty big caveats.
"I am not in an environment where I can play much [now], but in the near future I would like to realize remaster of Killer7”
So, in effect: while he wants to do it, there’s no timetable for its release, or even any news if the first line of code has been laid to make it. We also don’t know what platforms it’ll be released for, what an update might include, how much it would cost… basically we know about as little as the actual plot of Killer7.
Still, I’d like to hope it’ll come out sooner or later. We could use some more absurdity in our games these days.
