Subnautica, the 3-year-old open-world survival game based in the ocean of an alien planet will finally be leaving early access limbo and be formally released on January 23.
The player takes the role of a survivor to a large spaceship that crashed into an unknown planet. Surrounded by nothing but ocean, the player must use their auto crafting system to build a base and survive the treacherous seas. Diving deeper and deeper into the darkness in order to discover why the ship crashed.
Subnautica received substantial attention upon its release into early access. This was primarily due to some popular YouTubers such as JackSepticEye and Markiplier making a long-running series of themselves playing it.
After 3 years in early access, the developers have announced that they will be doing a live stream at the Monterey Bay Aquarium to celebrate the games official 1.0 launch. A special launch page dedicated to the event has a countdown towards the live stream, as well as a time zone calculator, and an email update option. The developers really don't want anyone to miss out on this it seems.
At the live stream, we will get to see the premiere of the Subnautica Cinematic Trailer, interviews with developers, the "pushing of The Big Red Launch Button," and even some real-life sea creatures!
Links to where the live stream will take place, as well as any additional info you may need, can be found at the Subnautica Launch page.
