Street Fighter V will Publically Shame RageQuitters

As if biting ones thumb were not enough!

Back when Street Fighter V first came out, it was a pretty crappy game. Now, several months later, it's still pretty bad, but at least it's been getting better with the release of new fighters, new stages, and a story mode that's actually worth a darn. But one of the reasons it was so bad, back when it was first launched, was that the game had a pretty easy-to-exploit flaw: namely, people could quit mid-match and suffer no repercussions. Given how prone to rage many of these players were, disconnecting out of a losing match became a perfectly common if endlessly irritating tactic.

Now, to their credit, Capcom rushed to fix this particular exploit, manually hunting down DCers until they could implement an automatic punishment that would peg people down for disconnecting twice in a twenty-four hour period. But even that hasn't stemmed all the disconnecting swine, so Capcom is going to take things one step forward and publicly shame people who disconnect frequently in matches, as well as honor those who take their beatings with pride.

Namely, if you happen to be the sort to ragequit frequently, before long, your player icon in your fighter profile will be changed to something that will warn other players of your bad habit. Likewise, those who have never sullied their name with a DC (and have really good internet) will get a special icon so people know you're honorable. Likewise, people with matching icons will be more likely to be paired together for a match, so ragequitters will see more ragequitters, and the honorable duelists will see more friendly bouts play to their full, likely one-sided conclusion.

Good to see Capcom trying to put a cork in this, but I have to admit, public shaming doesn't work so good on the internet these days. We'll just have to see how it works before we judge, though.
