Street Fighter V has not done all that great since its release and for good reason. Well, the sales were below expectations, but fortunately and according to the financial statements for the fiscal year ending March 31, the net sales for Capcom were up 19.8 percent year-over-year to 77 billion yen ($685 million). The same can be said for the net income, which increased to 7.75 billion yen ($69 million). However, what really helped the sales were the "back" of Capcom's Digital Contents division, which comprised 52.6 billion yen ($468 million) of the total net sales.
As for the best selling games? Well that award goes to Monster Hunter X for the 3DS, which sold more than 3 million copies. Steady sellers included Street Fighter V and Resident Evil 0 HD Remastered. Resident Evil 0 HD didn't even make Capcom's Million Sellers Chart, but Street Fighter V managed to garner at least 1.4 million copies. But unfortunately, the target was 2 million, so the sales were off by 600k. What could possibly attribute to this?
Well, mainly the fact that the game lacked a lot initially. No story mode and missing lots of other features definitely hurt it. Not only that, but there was a massive rage quitter problem, though that didn't seem to affect Street Fighter IV much. However, the story mode will release next month and will take about one to two hours to complete. I feel, in this case, it should be a little longer, but standard fighting game story modes are about that length.
